Description

Reading & Writing Mastery is a structured-literacy program designed to strengthen essential skills in reading, comprehension, writing, and spelling for students in Grades 5–8. Using evidence-based instruction, the program helps learners develop the tools they need to read with confidence, understand complex texts, and express their ideas clearly in writing.

Students receive targeted support in:

  • Reading fluency and accuracy
  • Comprehension strategies, including summarizing, inferencing, and identifying key ideas
  • Writing skills, including sentence structure, organization, and clear written expression
  • Spelling and vocabulary development based on structured word study
  • Critical thinking and communication through meaningful reading and writing tasks

Instruction is delivered in small groups and 1:1, allowing educators to tailor lessons to each learner’s strengths and needs. The goal of Reading & Writing Mastery is to build strong, independent readers and writers who are equipped for success in school and beyond.

Participant Eligibility

Participants attending the sessions must:

  • Not be diagnosed/identified with an intellectual disability or significant behavioural support needs.
