Student assessments are completed before registration and require a one-time, non-refundable fee of $75. Our Lead Tutor will contact you to arrange an in-person screening appointment at a convenient time.
During the appointment, the student will complete a reading assessment to help us understand their current reading and spelling skills, strengths, areas of difficulty and appropriate starting point for instruction. We will also speak with the family about the student’s learning history, individual needs and previous supports.
The appointment gives families an opportunity to learn more about Barton, ask questions and understand the program’s expectations, including the commitment to attend twice weekly. The overall purpose is to determine whether Barton and LDAWE are a good fit for both the student and family. Completing an assessment does not guarantee acceptance into the program.
